If your front teeth are stained, chipped, or malaligned, veneers will give you a good life-like appearance with minimum tooth adjustment.
A veneer is a facing on the front of your teeth just like a false finger nail. Veneers are made out of porcelain and are used mainly for aesthetic reasons.
Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy, and
because they are very thin and are held in place by a
special strong bond (rather like super-glue) very little
preparation of the tooth is needed. Porcelain
veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of
Veneers can also be used to close small gaps, when orthodontics
(braces) are not suitable. If one tooth is slightly out of position,
a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with
Porcelain veneers can be used to mask a single dark tooth or as a part of a smile makeover. Computer smile design is used to create the tooth shape and match the tooth colour to the patients wishes.
When patient is ready to proceed we will create a study model. Our technician will use computer smile design to create a version of the design so it can be checked for aesthetic and function.
Porcelain veneers are provided as planned over two main appointments.
At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions are taken and temporary veneers are made. This will give the opportunity to the patient to try out the design and make any adjustments or alterations before the final veneers are made.
At the second appointment the veneers will be fitted. The veneers will be polished and bite checked. We will then ask the patient to return in few days time for a review appointment to make sure that all is well.
What exactly are LUMINEERS?
Lumineers are a special type of ultra-thin veneers made from a patented cerinate that is very strong, but much thinner than traditional laboratory fabricated veneers. They are so thin, think of them as contact lenses for your teeth!
What makes lumineers so unique is not only their thinness (approximately .2 mm) but also that they are super translucent and painless. Also, unlike veneers, little to no tooth reduction is necessary.
Should I consider LUMINEERS?
Lumineers will change the shape and alignment of teeth, making them look straighter and more uniform. If after consultation and examination it is decided that your problem is not so severe that you require orthodontics, lumineers could be the perfect choice for you.
How long will my LUMINEERS last?
Lumineers can last and look great for up to 20 years.
The procedure for fitting lumineers is non-invasive. Even better, they are completely reversible which means they can be removed if you so wish. This is largely due to the non-reduction in sensitive tooth structure, so that the natural teeth are still intact and strong. With LUMINEERS No anesthetic or numbing shots are needed. Plus, no temporaries are required while you wait for your LUMINEERS to be created.
How long will LUMINEERS last?
LUMINEERS has good longevity. Clinical testing has proven that a LUMINEERS procedure lasts and looks great for years. LUMINEERS BY CERINATE also offers a 5-year Warranty and are replaced at no charge, ask your dentist for details as certain restrictions do apply.
What are Composite Veneers?
Composite Veneers are very thin mouldings that are specifically made for your teeth. The veneers themselves are made from materials designed to replicate your own teeth and give a natural, bright smile. The mouldings used can vary in material and size and there may be some minimal reshaping of the teeth. The procedure of composite veneers can usually be achieved with one dental visit. Composite resins are bonded to the front of the teeth and then shaped. Unlike other types of veneer treatment, composite veneer will not need any reshaping of the teeth.
